MEETÂ OUR CITY'S HEROES
For 1 to 2 hours, an experienced police officer or firefighter explains to the students how their station operates. The officer or firefighter will guide the kids through the duties of an officer or firefighter and the equipment that aids them in their job. Our members will also have the opportunity to sit in a patrol car during their visit. They will be able to see firsthand what goes on inside one of the hearts of safety in the city and understand how the police and firefighters are able to protect the residents of New York City.
Our members will also be able to apply the things they learned from this trip to their personal safety. They may pick up ways to protect themselves and avoid dangerous situations during the officer’s or firefighter’s presentation.

BOOK DRIVE
All year round
Many people have books in their homes that they have grown out of, and those books can be donated to children who can use those books. Books are necessary in the growth of a child’s mind, but some children don’t have access to as many books. With this activity, students can collect books they haven’t read in a while to give to children who would like to read those books.Â
Students will learn a new way of giving back to the community and helping others. They will also learn an important lesson about how items can be reused in donations and charities, which may encourage them to see donations as an option the next time they see an item they don’t use anymore.

CARDS TO SOLDIERS
Soldiers work hard to protect the country and are the ones who make our communities possible. We would like to thank them for their hard work and bravery through the cards that students will be making. Students will be able to express their creativity in this activity as they can use a variety of materials to create their cards. This will be a fun activity for students in which they can learn about and appreciate what the soldiers do for the country, as well as motivate soldiers to continue their hard work with the knowledge that our community appreciates their dedication and hard-work.
CLOTHES DONATION
Clothes keep us warm in the winter and are essential in people’s everyday lives, but some people aren’t fortunate enough to have as many clothes. Therefore, students will be collecting clothes to donate to the church. It will allow students to learn about a new way in which they can give back to the community as well as allow them to work together in the collection process. It also teaches them a lesson in reusing clothing instead of throwing worn clothes away and producing more waste, thus showing them that donating clothes is always a great option for old clothes in which they can give back to the community at the same time.
